Mice

Mice are usually attracted by three main things: food, shelter, nesting areas. In apartment buildings, they can travel between units through walls, ceilings, pipes, vents, and shared utility lines. Even if your space is clean, they may enter from a neighboring unit.

Common Reasons

Mice are attracted to food left out on counters or in unsecured packaging, open trash containers or food waste left overnight, clutter that provides nesting areas. They can enter through holes in walls or gaps under doors.

How To Get Rid Of Mice

Step 1: Eliminate Food Sources

Store all food, including rice, cereal, and snacks, in sealed plastic or glass containers, clean counters, stovetops, and floors daily, and take trash out nightly using a tight-fitting lid.

Step 2: Remove Nesting Areas

Reduce clutter, especially cardboard boxes and paper bags, store belongings in plastic bins instead of cardboard, and keep closets and storage areas organized.

Step 3: Seal Entry Points

Look for gaps or holes around baseboards, pipes, inside cabinets, or under doors. Submit a work request to seal these entry points.

Step 4: Use Effective Control Methods

Use glue or snap traps as needed, avoid bait stations since the chemicals can be hazardous. For ongoing or multiple sightings, submit a work order for professional pest control.

Important Considerations

The most common cause of mouse activity is accessible food combined with easy entry points. Even small crumbs or improperly stored dry goods can attract them. Clutter provides safe places to hide and nest. Following steps 1–3 plays a critical role in resolving the issue, as traps and treatments are much more effective when food sources and shelter are consistently eliminated.
